[edit] Issues
[edit] Water Audits
Due to the health concerns, should a house be connected to these supplies incorrectly, SA Water does an audit of the water connections on a property. They regularly do a percentage of the properties across Mawson Lakes. (Insert details here.)
The original plan by SA Water was for householders to go a self audit. An issue with a property where the build had connected the services in reverse has now mandated that these audits be carried out by SA Water.
[edit] Outside Potable Water
Many builders interpreted the requirements of 'outside water tap' and 'recycled water to be used for the garden' to imply that the outside taps for a house in Mawson Lakes to be connected to the recycled water system.
This means that quite a few houses in Mawson Lakes do not have a potable water supply outside of the house, which is a health concern where children playing outside may make use of the recycled water.
[edit] Plumbing Fixtures
Initially it was mandated that reverse (left handed) threaded fixtures be used on connections made to the recycled water supply. Due to the additional expense and lack of availability of these parts, industrious residents made full use of 'snap lock' hose fittings.
It is believed that condition has since been dropped.
[edit] Pricing
The price of the recycled water is set to 45% of the potable water rate with no water allowance. It is billed separately to the potable water.
Potable water is supplied as per the South Australian mains water supply conditions.
